This is a recent post in the Amphibian Rescue and Conservation Project website about some of our recent findings. Continue reading Recent news on skin bacteria from amphibians of the Darién
During my PhD research I studied the evolution of bacterial populations from aquatic environments at the Cuatro Ciénegas Basin, México.
I am interested in determining the factors that influence the structure and function of skin microbial communities, and their role against the amphibian pathogen Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, Bd.
Frogs are dying all over the world due to an amphibian disease called chyitridiomycosis. Skin bacteria isolated from amphibians are able to inhibit the growth of the pathogen that is responsible for this disease.
